The UNESCO Chair for Gender Equality in Higher Education Institutions seeks to implement policies that promote gender equality through research and by raising awareness among the university population about the inequalities that women face in their academic training and their work as teachers and researchers.

The implementation of policies that promote gender equality in higher education institutions is aligned with the National Education Project to 2021 (S.R. No. 001-2007-ED) prepared by the Ministry of Education and the National Education Council in 2007, whose Policy 4.3 aims to “overcome gender discrimination in the education system”, and with the National Gender Equality Plan-PLANIG 2012-2017 whose strategic objective 3 seeks to “reduce educational gaps between men and women”.

Goals:

1. Elaboration and adoption of a policy of prevention and protection against sexual harassment in the university environment
2. Development and adoption of equal opportunities policy
3. Elaboration and adoption of the Gender Equality Plan in higher education institutions
