About the UNITWIN Network

The UNITWIN Network is a chain of twinning between universities, a product of the UNITWIN program, which comes from the abbreviation university twinning and networking schemeThis program was created in 1992 with the aim of promoting cooperation and inter-university links around the world to strengthen, through training, higher education and research institutions through the exchange of knowledge, an a reflecting spirit of international solidarity.

Like the UNESCO Chairs Program, the UNITWIN Program is responsible for establishing UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks in higher education institutions, as well as supporting the implementation of institutional actions linked to UNESCO’s fields of competence, namely education, natural and social sciences, culture and communication. As the UNESCO Chairs, the UNITWIN Network promotes the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 2015-2030 by higher education institutions.
