Ecofeminist approaches to reverse the war on life

We share the publication "Ecofeminist perspectives to reverse the war against life" by Professor Yayo Herrero. The publication has been co-organized by the UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality in Higher Education Institutions and trAndeS- Postgraduate Program in Sustainable Development and Social Inequalities in the Andean Region PUCP FU Berlin. The trAndeS program is a joint initiative between the Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin) and the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). This publication is the result of the transcription of the UNESCO-PUCP International Conference on Gender took place on May 31st, 2022.
Abstract
The author focuses on the crisis that arises from the dissociation of economy and politics from the materiality of land and bodies. She seeks to understand how this war against life is produced and points out various ways and paths that should be taken to reverse it. To this end, it takes the synergistic proposals of ecologism and feminism as its axis.
About the author
Yayo Herero is a professor and researcher in political ecology, ecofeminisms and education for sustainability. She is the author and/or co-author of more than thirty books and is a regular contributor to various media. She was coordinator of the Centro Complutense de Estudios e Información Medioambiental of the Fundación General Universidad Complutense de Madrid and general director of FUHEM. For decades she has combined her professional activity with active participation in social movements, especially the environmental movement.
