The book is the product of a project that began in 2018 and is titled: “The challenges of conciliation. Comparative analysis of the experience of working women in higher education institutions”. It is a project that sought to show an x-ray on the reality of 15 higher education institutions (HEIs) in five countries, four in Ibero-America (Mexico, Ecuador, Spain and Peru) and Italy.[

Abstract

Women in Peruvian universities must face challenges in their daily lives in order to develop professionally, while producing advanced knowledge in universities and higher education research centres because, at present, working life is not yet harmonized with personal and family life. This situation is maintained by the current sexual division of labour, even though the number of women in universities has increased. In order to address this situation, women have developed various strategies to reconcile the two areas. This article shows how women academics from one private university and five public universities face gender difficulties and barriers throughout their teaching careers.
